POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Chief Engineer and the Engineering Manager, the Senior Propulsion Engineer will perform research, investigation and analysis for assigned projects and provide support to all engineering staff at the facility. Direct day-to-day Engineering Operations of programs or segments of programs as assigned. Assignments are varied and may not be limited to one specific field.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BSc degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering or BSc Degree in Physics with ten years relevant industrial experience or a relevant PhD with five years applicable industrial experience. Technical understanding of mono and bi-propellant rocket engines for satellites is essential
Ability to work effectively with various levels of customer and company personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will have experience in some or all of the following fields:
• Design/Drawing
• Engineering Analysis
• Thermal Analysis
• Structural Analysis
• Analysis of test data and production of test reports
• Production of Technical Proposals for new programs
• Production of test plans and project documentation
• Provide technical input into technical investigations
• Fundamental principles of Program Management
• Provide assistance to bids and proposals for external customers
• Interface with marketing to understand the customer’s needs Input to design e.g. acting upon customer’s feedback and recommendation.
• Provide engineering input into design and development of new products e.g. Derivation of fundamental design requirements/features of next generation thruster.
• Interface with other areas of engineering to allow accurate technical assessments
• High Altitude Test Facility
• Conduct hot-fire tests of bi-propellant and monopropellant rocket engines
• Fundamental principles of Data Acquisition
• Thermal Imaging
• Propellant Handling
• Information Technology including Hardware/Software Control and test data reduction

Level of Engineering Knowledge and General Characteristics:
• Knowledge of working with European/US Space Companies and ESA
• Knowledge of the process of testing rocket engines
• Knowledge of hypergolic rocket propellants
• Understanding of space program typical milestones and reviews e.g. PDR, CDR, DRB etc.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering and some basic electrical engineering
• General appreciation of chemical rocket engineering (not necessarily for spacecraft) is essential
We also look for strong problem solving abilities, a proven ability to set and achieve goals and deadlines, and manage multiple projects and priorities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Duties will be performed in a standard office and test environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to work weekends and holidays, and travel. Use of PC equipment is required
