Principal Stress Engineer

As part of the multi-disciplinary Structures team, you will:

• Lead or directly participate in, and influence the definition and execution of aircraft structural R&D projects
• Provide technical approval as delegate of Chief Engineer, identifying technical risks that occur in program design decisions – as such you will participate in development program design and peer reviews
• Ensure products being developed are accounting for established domain standards and knowledge - patents & lessons learned
• Be accountable to the Chief Engineer and Engineering Committee for issues related to the airframe stress knowledge domain
• Ensure continuous improvement of knowledge and design standards
• Research technical developments in the industry to remain aware of innovations and trends that may affect and improve the structures discipline
• Function as an advisor by providing specialized advice of an advanced nature to solve broad technical problems.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

You must hold a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering

13-15 years of relevant airframe stress experience in structures and systems installation, for both composite and metallic structures.

You must have very good knowledge of static strength and fatigue and damage tolerance. You must be able to analyze global and detailed finite element models (FEM).

You must have excellent knowledge of metallic primary structures and very good knowledge of composite primary structures.

You must have experience with whole aircraft sizing, wing to fuselage.

You must have technical leadership experience.

You must be experienced in Research and Development.

The quality of your decisions and recommendations will show an understanding of other disciplines and will encompass industry standards and company processes.

You have a good deal of experience dealing with regulatory authorities or performed as a regulatory authority delegate in structures.

You must have certification experience FAR Part 25.

You must also possess very good verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of French would be an asset.
